If you have stopped by the shop, you know that I'm a big fan of handmade goods, especially those that are locally created in Jersey City. I look at tons of products every day, though, and rarely do I get super excited ... until yesterday.
Sundays are traditionally lazy days in the shop. I brainstorm about the upcoming week, think about what I'm going to make for dinner and generally zone out. So when my customer Jade popped in with a bag of items to show me I just went through the motions until I opened the first box ...

Hello! Are you kidding me?! I know Jade's artwork! She is the illustrator behind
mumbot.etsy.com -- a shop that I have been
obsessed with for over a year now. And she just started creating these amazing handmade brooches. AND she wants to know if I would be interested in exclusively selling them at Kanibal Home. My response:
"How much is the vampire, because I want it for myself?"So, professionalism out the window (I started jumping up and down), we figured out the arrangements and Jade ran off to work. Now I'm stuck with a dilemma -- do I keep all the brooches for myself or sell them in the shop? Well, it wouldn't be very fair for Jade if I hoarded them, but seriously ... these brooches are killer!
(The details alone are stunning. Vampire girl hand drawn illustration with a red ribbon and little bat charm. Oh yea and it comes in that adorable box too.)
(I know a friend that would go nuts over this as a gift ...)
(Gorgeous. Enough said.)
