Business Casual Onesie

Aww, look it's one of Kanibal Home's smaller fans rocking our exclusive Business Casual onesie.

In addition to the shop, this onesie is also available online.

(PS: We think baby Leo could be a model, don't you? His flipped hair gets me every time.)

Spring Ahead

I don't know about you, but -- as a Northern New Jersey resident -- I was NOT impressed with the snow "storm" last week. That said, I've been hearing whispers about more snow this week. You know what I say about that? Boo!

I'm done with winter. So come by Kanibal and grab a dose of Spring. We've added a whole new rack to the shop with a total of 9 brand spanking new styles.

Here's a quick look:

Meat Products with Faces = Fun

You may remember the Hot Dog High Five tee we had in the shop for kids ... well, we got it in for adults too. However, there are only a limited amount, so if you want one you can 1) call and put a size on hold, 2) come in and snatch one up, or 3) shoot me an email.

That said, we also got a bunch of new tops in the shop. Ch-ch check it out below:

(Adult Hot Dog High Five tee)

(Two for one! This cute grey sweater has a white shirt built in. Perfect for those people who have problems with layering ... or those who just want an easy option.)

(Ok, this is a no brainer. Great color, great fit, perfect for work or a casual night out and super soft. I would wear this under a boring blazer for a bit of pop.)

Shop Updates, Part II

I wasn't joking when I mentioned that there would be new updates every day this week.

This is what went out today (in addition to a black party dress):

(This model is too cheerful. The thin flannel shirt is much cuter in person -- and it has a slight cowboy detailing that is lost in the image.)

(A little something something for the men too. This two pocket cardigan is available in navy and orange.... and is under $50.)

(Stirrup leggings available in chestnut, black and graphite)

(Basic leggings available in black and graphite)

(Zipper leggings available in black and graphite)

Love at First Zip

I hand pick everything that comes into the shop, so therefore it's pretty much without a doubt an item that I love. But sometimes there are products that I REALLY love. Like I love it so much I need one for myself. That was the case with this jacket:

(Black hooded jacket - $62)

The photo doesn't do it justice. There's a big hood that actually comes over your head (what's the deal lately with hoods being minuscule?) and great detailing around the wrists. I loved it so much ... I bought it for myself.

(Grey button front skirt - $42)

In addition to the jacket, we've also gotten a range of items from dresses to skirts and new recycled notebooks in the shop.

Cooling Trends

Well I might have just gotten back from a little summer hiatus, but that doesn't mean Fall isn't around the corner. I know, I know. It was 90 degrees on Monday, but this is retail after all. Not much makes sense in this industry.

Here's a taste of what's new in the shop:

(Vintage pendant necklace)

(Carved Agate and Pineapple Quartz Necklace -- One-of-a-kind piece from artists Laura Rosenbaum)

(Vintage Sailboat Pendant Necklace)

(I wore this eco-friendly shirt during the BBC interview!)

(Long sleeve eco-friendly shirt -- great structure with unique detailing)

(Vintage blue tea cups)

New Styles!

More styles in the shop this week including a bunch of dresses that are great cool weather transition pieces.

A sneak peak of a few:

(This dress is in black, but the picture doesn't do the cute ruffle details justice)

Store Makeover

Having a store allows me one great, overriding, stupendous benefit: Freedom. Mostly the freedom to change things around whenever I want.

Although I'm working hard at updating the store's online site (it had to play second fiddle while I was getting the storefront ready), a lot of the design is out of my hands. I may orchestrate the vision, but the implementation is left to someone else. Someone talented enough to wade through programming rules and coding.

But with a physical location I have the opportunity and freedom to arrange and rearrange the store as new products come in to give everything a more purposeful feeling. Kanibal Home gets new products in every week and I like to change the store slightly each time. Although we have a lot of products, the main point I try to communicate is that modern and vintage, new and old can all create a cohesive living environment. Someplace that's comfortable, warm and -- above all -- feels like home.

And (as we mentioned in Tuesday's post) this week's crazy shipments brought about some big changes.

(Finally finished the antique vanity in the back of the store. It now serves as a display for some vintage shoes, scarves and bangle bracelets brought in by Kim at Oh My Vintage)

(Kanibal Home's new men's section: Kanibal Home tees and a mix of vintage and new jackets. Great vintage designer ties as well brought in by Kim's boyfriend Patrick. They could possibly be the nicest, cutest couple in the entire world. Seriously.)

(One of the many maxi dresses that just arrived in the shop.)

(Vintage lunch box. If it doesn't sell this week I may have to buy it. I learned my lesson from last time with that Swallow and the Swift necklace. I still dream about that bug.)

(Table of treasures. New Flamingo Tee in organic cotton with a Oh My Vintage purse on top of a stack of vintage etiquette books.)
